This release is deeply concentrated with a very dense ruby hue. Aromatics include black currants, a very bordeaux-like lead pencil and a black rose perfume. The multi-layered flavor profile includes dense currants in the middle of the palate and a pleasant hint of minerality that sneaks into the finish. The body and structure can be summarized as mountainside ruggedness with proper balance and ripe tannins. This youthful wine can be enjoyed for many years.
Hand harvested October 8 in the oak knoll district. Each lot was fermented separately, de-stemmed into stainless steel for fermentation, fined with fresh egg whites and barrel aged for 26 months in French oak. The deep, intense ruby color is characteristic of cooler climate Petit Verdot. Full bodied, polished and expansive on the palate with currant and spice flavors and a long, flavorful finish.
