Wines

Winemakers Paul Scotto and Mitch Cosentino both agree wholeheartedly that before the first grape is brought to the winery 80% to 90% of the eventual wine's merit has been determined in the vineyard as it is the ultimate contributor to a wine's excellence. For all wines in The JMC Luxury Portfolio, only the finest Napa Valley vineyards are chosen based on their history of wines produced plus the meticulous attention paid to the soil and each vine.

Paul's overriding philosophy is "patience and letting the vineyard tell me what to do." And Mitch adds that "A visual inspection is important but tasting wines produced from the site, with a conscientious effort to separate winemaking influences, is paramount to determining the character of the vineyard."

2017 50 Harvests Meritage

New Release

Our seventh release is a multilayered combination of S 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc from low yield, hand harvested vineyards. Spice, mineral and red fruit aromatics precede a well-balanced, structured and complex wine with a panorama of red and black currants, a note of pomegranate, hints of spice and a long finish.  The grapes were selected primarily from prized vineyards in the Eastern hills and Oak Knoll areas of the Napa Valley. They were picked at a time of proper balance and maturity, then partially punched cap fermented in one ton lots. The individual lots were aged separately for 29 months in French oak barrels prior to blending and bottling.

2016 50 Harvests Meritage

Our grandfather brought his family to California just in time for the 1963 harvest. Half a century later, we released 5O Harvests to commemorate this milestone and launch our next 5O years as a family owned and operated wine company.

2015 50 Harvests Meritage

The hallmarks of 50 Harvests have always been a subtle expression of balance, structure and longevity that are well represented in this, our fifth release from Napa’s heralded 2015 vintage. A medium ruby color is accented by plush tones of crimson leading to a nose of spice and cola surrounding the well rounded notes of blue berries and black cherries. The well integrated palate is rich and bold with a succulent mouthfeel framed by sweet tannins. Each component of the nose carries forward on the palate accompanied by hints of raspberry and red currant in the back for a bright edge to accentuate a strong sense of balance and structure. A lingering finish brings forward the character of each element while adding an overall sense of complexity in its layered presentation.

2014 50 Harvests Meritage

A bright crimson color combines with shades of garnet to create an appealing first impression. The nose exhibits strong black current notes supported by a mix of aromatics ranging from floral scents to tea leaves, tobacco and pomegranate. On the broad and richly balanced palate, black current continues to dominate with the support of black berries and cherries along with a touch of spice. The suppleness of the nose and palate carry on to a seductive and layered finish that just lingers on. The overall impression is one of balance with a silky mouthfeel accented by a Bordelaise character of stony/slate like minerality. All of these fine attributes combine effortlessly with an infinite underlying structure to guarantee early enjoyment and longevity in the bottle.
